Ocean Township Burglary Suspect Arrested In Deal

An Ocean Township man was charged with attempted burglary after police said he was seen trying to break into an Oakhurst home through the rear door then fleeing on a bicycle.

A caller alerted police to the attempted break-in about 1:40 p.m. Thursday, providing what authorities said was a detailed description of the suspect, police said.

The suspect was last seen riding a bicycle down Roosevelt Avenue where the home is located, the caller told police.

Police in Deal and Long Branch were notified.

A police officer in Deal saw a man on Norwood Avenue matching the description, police said. 

The suspect, Timothy Foote, 42, of Ocean Township, was detained in Deal.

Foote, who police said has had multiple arrests before, was identified as the suspect and charged with criminal attempted burglary. 

Foote was taken to Monmouth County Jail where he remains pending a court appearance.
